This article is why I subscribe to your channel. I’m from Auckland, and for me Wellington is kind of … meh. But your passion, optimism and clarity in this piece lifts me out of my chair. I expect that one day you will be a politician/leader to reckon with. Onya!
Awe, that was a wonderful comment to read! Thank you so much! It genuinely means a lot that my writing resonates, especially as someone from Auckland who might see Wellington as meh, lol. And thanks for the encouragement about being a politician one day, I dipped my toes in it last year, so who knows!? :) Upwards
Great piece Natalia thanks. My observations are that there tends to be a finger pointing focus on Tory. I think that is unfair. The dysfunction is around the whole council table. Yes it is the mayors job to manage that but some councillors need to start adulting too. The other point of note is Wellingtonians voted for a mostly green council and the capitalists among us are complaining about overspending on green initiatives. Rather than blaming Tory I feel it is the councillors who have been around the table for more than one term and have known about failing infrastructure for years. The real reason our rates have skyrocketed are the unfunded mandates from central government.

You didn't mention the Vision for Wellington initiative. Isn't that an example of leadership and a positive move?
Heya! Thanks for comment. I haven’t heard of it, I’ll google it now. What do you like about it?
