Is it possible to support democracy and Māori? I hope it is, but I am unsure at this point. Third part of my series on analysing this government coalition agreements
That is a challenging topic. My view is that one cant use tribalism to run a nation of millions of people, and currently democracy is looking the best way forward. Self determination like tribalism is better used locally, as we have seen during Covid, but mixing tribalism with democracy gives you the benefit of neither. That is why I didnt like 3 waters, and I think Winston Peters might feel the same. Maori should simply ban tobacco in their local areas. People might accept that. What do you think ?
I agree with everything you’ve said, thanks for connecting and reaching out. I do think that politicians need to be very careful to not do and say things that make things worst. They have a superficial role within this that is different to other sectors, groups and regions. I think any group deciding over other groups is problematic and we have grouped our population within an inch of our life. I think we can start to migrate back to a system that works for most people, with all the learnings we have gathered from managing our populations in groups. But our current group politics is not getting us anywhere, and outcomes aren’t improving and we are just getting more decided.
